A trial date has now been set in the civil suit seeking monetary damages on behalf of Isaac Kolstad.

The proceedings are set to begin at the Blue Earth County Justice Center on January 29th, 2018.

Both of the men who assaulted Kolstad, Trevor Shelley and Phillip Nelson, are named in the lawsuit, along with South Street Saloon and Blue Bricks. The two bars are named because they allegedly served liquor to Nelson, who was underage at the time.

The suit says “as a result of the defendants’ actions, Kolstad suffered serious and permanent injuries to his head and brain.” Kolstad’s medical expenses thus far have totaled around $1-million and continue to rise.
