(Olivia, MN) – A tanker truck that overturned in Renville County contained waste that possibly contaminated a waterway.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that just prior to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3, a semi-tanker filled with industrial waste from Central Bi-Products of Redwood Falls overturned into a road ditch and causing an uncontained spill.  The truck was operated by Revier Cattle Company of Olivia.

The incident occurred at the intersection of US Hwy 71 and Renville County Road 4.  The semi was turning east onto CR 4 from Highway 71 northbound and cut the corner short. The trailer went into the ditch and caused the entire semi-tractor trailer to tip onto its side. Industrial waste spilled from the trailer into the ditch. The spill possibly flowed into a waterway that leads to the East Fork of Beaver Creek.

Renville County and MPCA issued a permit for Revier Cattle Company to take industrial waste from Central Bi-Products as Central Bi-Products could not dispose of its waste product.
