Springfield Man Uses His Child To Shield Himself From Police Taser…

A 23-year-old man is now facing a handful of criminal charges in Brown County after an incident that allegedly included using his child as a shield.

Noe Castillo Martinez of Springfield is accused of child endangerment, fleeing police, drunk driving and reckless driving.

According to the complaint, police were called just before 7am on May 13th from a witness who reported that a woman was hanging onto a vehicle and telling Martinez not to drive because he was drunk. The witness said the car drove off and left her sight, but returned shortly after with the woman now on the hood of the vehicle.

As the officer arrived, he saw the woman on the truck’s hood and Noe exiting the vehicle.  Noe then started to run toward his apartment and when the officer ordered him to stop or be tased, Noe allegedly put his young child between the officer and himself.

The woman then stepped in between them and Noe ran into his apartment. After about 5 minutes of negotiations, Noe came out and was ordered to the ground at taser point and handcuffed.
