KYSM Country 103-5 is excited to welcome Jeff Spence and Doug Gerdes to its new morning show! Two longtime personalities in the Mankato area can now be heard together each morning from 5:30-9 a.m.on KYSM. Spence (a.k.a JP) has been in the Mankato radio market for 20 plus years and has been doing Afternoon Drive on Country 103-5 for over 11 years. He’s also been on the air on our Alpha Media sister station Rock 95.
Dougie has been a local DJ/Personality hosting a variety of weddings, special events, and bar promotions since the late ’90s. He also is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato with an English degree and a psychology minor. We look forward to seeing what these two well liked Mankato guys create together… odds are there’s going to be plenty of laughter each and every morning.
Jeff Spence Bio: A little about me… I was born in Mankato and raised on the good side of the river North Mankato!
I am a product of the Mankato Public School system and am a graduate of Mankato West High School.
I did continue my post high school education as well. I have an Auto Mechanics degree from SCC. I also spent two years at MSU, Mankato. And then transferred to Brown Institute in MPLS where I earned my broadcast degree. I also have a certificate in Bartending.
Some of my hobbies include hunting and fishing, softball, darts and golf.
Doug Gerdes Bio: I’m just a small town boy, born and raised in South……. Dakota. I moved here in the early 90s for college and here I’ve stayed. I’ve been DJing weddings, special events, and the bars since the late 90s. I graduated in the last class from Mankato State University with an English degree and a psychology minor. I like reading King, Koontz, and Hill novels and try to get some golf in when I can. I live with my girlfriend Kim and we have the world’s cutest, most perfect daughter, Peighton (not named after the greatest football player in history, Walter Payton, as far as Kim knows). I love all MN pro sports except the Vikings, I’m a diehard Bears fan! And my passion, besides music, is movies and now Netflix series. But not necessarily good ones as I’m known in my circle of friends to watch the most horrific crap late at night. I have a little OCD and I can’t not finish a movie no matter how bad it is.
