Hey! We’re George and Jess, ‘breaking it down’ weekday mornings from 5:30 to 9:00. We’ve been doing the show together since February of 2011. We’ve had a lot of changes the past few years…we got married in 2016 and welcomed our little girl Clara to the family February 2017. (Big Brother Noah has been doing really well with his new little sister!) We’re having a blast as a family of four and are proud to call Mankato our home.
More About George:
Minnesota native born in Minneapolis! Graduated from International Falls High School. I am a veteran of the 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA. First radio job was in St. Paul doing News/Sports on WDGY/WMIN starting in 1996 after graduating from Brown College. Moved to the Mankato market in 1999…I love the Minnesota River Valley and have never left! I have been doing morning drive on KYSM with Jess since February 2011.
Working on home improvements consumes much of my time these days, but I love it. I also enjoy volunteering my time with Minnesota Valley Action Council and helping the Marines with their annual Toys for Tots campaign.
I dig Minnesota sports teams! GO VIKINGS!….I like to grill, prefer backyard bonfires to a night on the town, and spending time with family and friends is better than big crowds.
I love to hunt and fish in the deep north woods of Minnesota where I grew up!
Country music rocks!….
Tim McGraw, Brantley Gilbert, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Gary Allan…. and the list goes on.
More About Jess:
I grew up on a farm in Northeast Iowa, the same farm where my father and his father were raised. My parents relocated to Minnesota after I graduated high school. I have been in radio since 2003 when I interned on KOWZ in Owatonna while attending Brown College in Minneapolis. After graduating in 2004 I spent 3 years on WCOW in Wisconsin. In May of 2007 I moved to Mankato to be closer to family. Now, here I am on your radio with George every morning and I’m so happy to be here!
I am a proud supporter of the YWCA of Mankato and serve on their Advisory Committee for Girls’ Programming. The work they do for the women and girls of the area is unmatched.
I have loved country music since the 90’s when I was a kid. My very first concert was Alan Jackson when I was 10. The list of my current favorite artists is too long to list. I’m so excited about where the industry is going right now!
I have a crazy little boy that keeps me very busy traveling around Southern Minnesota looking at tractors, trucks and animals (we hit every county fair within 40 miles every summer). He’s seriously the coolest kid ever and will be heading off to kindergarten this fall! George and I also welcomed our little girl to the family this February and she already has us all wrapped around her fingers.
I love running and I ran the Mankato ½ Marathon for the 3rd time this past fall, (while pregnant!) If I’m not running (after my son or for fun) I like reading, Pilates and cooking. I’m proud to call Mankato home, it’s a wonderful place to work, live and raise a family.
