MaKenna Thurston – Nicollet Public High School

Dedicated team player for NPS Varsity Volleyball team and Top Runner and Captain of the LCWM/N Cross Country Team. This Senior can do it all. Looking for her 4th straight trip to State in CC and second straight win as Section Champion. Her commitment as a double sport athlete this fall and for the last 3 years goes above and beyond. Her dedication and hard work in both sports should not go unrecognised as one of the truest athletes in Southern Minnesota.

October 22nd, 2018

The Maple River high school varsity Volleyball team. Before every game, they hand write notes of encouragement to the opposing team and then place them on the bench. A couple of weeks ago, when they played against Blooming Prairie(right after BP had lost one of their teachers and students in a car accident), the eagles have each member of the BP varsity team a flower to show that they was in their thoughts and prayers. They also have them a hand made card signed by all members of the MR volleyball program. After the game, they joined BP on the court for a moment of prayer.

10/1/2018  Levi Wolter –  WEM (Football)

  • Senior, last Friday he had a game-high 7 tackles, member of the offensive line, who helped the team gain 411 rushing yards in a 56-12 win. Always super kind and supportive to his team as and the opponents, outside the game as well!

JADEN TAYLOR – WEM (FOOTBALL)

  • last weeks game against GFW he scored 5 TD’s, w/ 8 caries and 219 yards.

PARKER JONES – ST. JAMES (FOOTBALL)

  • Game winning interception

GIRLS

10/1/2018 Gabby Straub – Le Sueur-Henderson (Volleyball)

  • Reached her 1,000 career kill on September 20 and surpassed the LSH leader for most career kills on Thursday, September 27. It was held by Jess Thelemann with 1,088 and Gabby is currently at 1,097, with a lot of the season still to go.

MADDIE PEARSON – MVL (VOLLEYBALL)

  • Maddie has been the set-up to her team’s successful attacks and victories by putting up 42 set assists in both of the volleyball matches MVL played this week. She is averaging over 40 set assists over the last 4 matches.

MARA WEISENSEL – MVL (VOLLEYBALL)

  • Tallied 20 kills and 8 ace blocks vs. Maple River in volleyball.
    Tallied 13 kills and 5 ace blocks in a 3 set game vs. Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.
