(New Ulm, MN) – A tip from the FBI led to an investigation of a social media threat made against a New Ulm school.

New Ulm Police received information from the FBI in Mankato of a possible threat at New Ulm High School late in the afternoon on Tuesday, Dec 10th.  An investigation the following day revealed that the threat had occurred on social media.

“The suspect student was removed from the building without incident and is cooperating with law enforcement,” says a news release from NUPD.  “A criminal investigation is currently being conducted and search warrants are being applied for to obtain further social media data.”

Police say there were no other students involved in the threat.  The investigation is ongoing and findings will be forwarded to the Brown County attorney’s office.
