(Gaylord, MN) – A Gaylord woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly harbored a man wanted on a warrant at her unkempt home.

Abigail Elaine Holberg, 27, was charged with gross misdemeanor child endangerment and obstructing the legal process

According to documents filed Tuesday in Sibley County court, police came to Holberg’s home on 3rd Street multiple times after an arrest warrant was issued for her boyfriend, Michael Eng.  Police say the pair also have children together.

Holberg assured police that Eng was not living at her home and promised to report to them if Eng returned, according to the criminal complaint.

Eng was found at Holberg’s residence during a warrant search on July 22nd.  Holberg reportedly told the police, “my bad, obviously.”

Police described living conditions in Holberg’s home as “very dirty and messy and unfit/unsafe for children to be living in.”  According to the complaint, officers found garbage in every room. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also found throughout the house.  Police found numerous cigarette butts – including one in the cover of the peanut butter – and broken glass within the children’s reach.  The complaint says there was also a large knife laying on a table that was easily accessible to the children.

Eng has numerous criminal convictions, including disorderly assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft.  He currently has three pending court cases for unlawful possession of a firearm and various traffic violations.

Holberg told police Eng had not been at the residence until that night and had said he would turn himself in in the morning.
