(Mankato, MN) – Blue Earth County has declared a state of emergency following last week’s inclement weather.

Torrential rains and severe weekend storms prompted county officials to approve a resolution claiming a “significant amount of public property damage.”

This is the third state of emergency declared in Blue Earth County this year.  The first two requests came in spring after multiple late-season winter storms caused damages and flooding around the region.

The declaration by the county is the first step in requesting federal disaster aid.
