(Hector, MN) – Hector police are looking for information on a fire that they believe was intentionally ignited early Sunday morning in the city.

According to a release from the department, the Hector Fire Department arrived on the scene of the blaze at 401 Main Street South at 2:20 a.m.  Responders found the interior of the home engulfed in flames.  The fire was contained to one room of the home, according to police.

The home was completely destroyed by the fire.  Police say the property had been vacant for approximately 29 years and was in preparation to be demolished.

An investigation by the state fire marshal concluded that the fire was intentionally started.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information.
