A Southern Minnesota Walmart Is Closing

This is something that a lot of people didn’t want to hear, others have a less favorable opinion of the retail giant.

Either way, it’s happening.

The Walmart store in Blue Earth is closing.

Staff at the discount store at 1210 Giant Drive tells SMN they will close the doors for good on October 3rd and at this point, they don’t have any plans for any special store closing sales.

The Blue Earth store is one of 96 Walmart locations in Minnesota. With its closure, the next nearest Walmart would be 18 miles west in Fairmont. There’s also the Walmart 44 miles to the north in Mankato and the Walmart in Albert Lea 41 miles to the east.
