The National Weather Service has warned  that “dangerous, record heat” is expected this weekend, with highs expected to break the 100-mark particularly in the southwest and west-central parts of the state.

It looks more possible as we draw closer that Mankato records could fall on more than one day over the next week.

They are also warning parents and pet owners, reminding them not to leave small children or their pets in hot cars.

Also make sure your pets have plenty of fresh water and adequate shade.
