Man Who Threatens To Kill Mankato Police Officers Family Gets Probation


A 53-year-old man who was accused of threatening to kill the family of a Mankato police officer has been sentenced.

Willard Dale Strauss was given five years probation, a $500 fine and 29 days in jail, which he had already served.

According to the complaint, an officer responded to a report of an intoxicated male on the night of March 20th. The officer came upon Strauss, who had a blood alcohol concentration of .256 and was told he was going to be taken to detox.

Strauss then allegedly threw punches at the officer and and back-up was called. They were able to get Strauss into the squad car and during transport, he told the officer ā€œIā€™m gonna burn your house down and kill your f*cking family.ā€
