Criminal Damage To Property In The 4th Degree…With A Watermelon

A 32-year-old Mankato man is facing criminal charges for allegedly throwing a watermelon at another man’s car.

Michael Paul Schugel is charged with criminal damage to property in the 4th degree.

According to the complaint, a man called police on July 15th, saying that he was visiting the residence of a woman that both he and Schugel share children with, when he looked out the window and saw Schugel throw a watermelon out of his vehicle’s window.  The watermelon struck the victim’s car and damaged the trim around the wheel well.

The woman told police that Schugel had texted her saying “see what happens” and that she also saw him drive by.
