Crash On Basset Drive In Mankato This Morning Leaves Man Fighting For His Life



An elderly man is hospitalized after crashing his car into a Mankato business Friday morning.

Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel says the man was westbound on Bassett Drive just after 7:00 when he suffered some type of medical issue. The man’s vehicle took out a pole and a mailbox on Bassett and then crashed into Jerry’s ABRA Auto Body & Glass.

Witnesses began CPR on the victim at the scene and he was taken to the MCHS Hospital.

At last check, he was still under emergency treatment related to the medical issue prior to the crash, but his current condition is unknown.

The damage at Jerry’s included a shattered window, and damage to some stone work and some metal flashing around another window.
