A 21-year-old Mankato man is facing a long list of criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a teenage boy who set him up in a drug deal robbery.
Samuel James Rausch is accused of kidnapping, false imprisonment, threats of violence, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of assault, including assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the complaint, the 15-year-old victim agreed to arrange a marijuana purchase for Rausch on June 21st. The two went and picked up two others and when Rausch gave one of the other people $200, that person took the money and the pot and he and other other person in the backseat got out of the car and ran.
Rausch then allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim before the victim could flee as well. Rausch drove around looking for the two who had taken off with his money and the drugs and not finding them, he drove out to the country and pistol-whipped the teen.
Later when back in town and the boy tried to run, Rausch caught him, threw him to the ground and hit him in the head and face several times before he was finally able to escape.
