14 Year Old Austin High School Student Dies Following Collapse At Football Practice

 

An Austin High School student who collapsed during football practice last month has died due to complications from cardiac arrest.

According to an update on CaringBridge, 14-year old Chris Fischer died “peacefully and comfortably without suffering” Saturday morning.

Austin Schools Superintendent David Krenz stated that when Fischer collapsed during practice on August 22nd, school employees responded to his medical needs and called 911.

Austin police and paramedics took over Fischer’s care, as he was taken by ambulance to Mayo Health Systems Center-Austin emergency room, and then flown to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
